When the condition of the patient is such that he cannot be moved to the hospital or when there is no bed available in any of the hospitals, then the treatment taken at home only if it is like the treatment given at the hospital / nursing home is reimbursable under the Mediclaim policy.

When medical treatment is taken at home which would otherwise have required hospitalization, it is called Domiciliary Hospitalization. Medical expenses for this are covered by health insurance provider in India only if on the advice of the attending medical practitioner, the patient cannot be transferred to a hospital or a bed in the hospital is unavailable.
