THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, which lays claim to being the leading private life insurance player in the country, has
registered a 28% growth in the first 9 months of the fiscal. Company vice president K S Mahesh said here that ICICI Pru Life expected to end the year in positive territory, due to the strong growth in the first half of the fiscal.
On a year-on-year basis, ICICI Pru Life's total premium this year stood at Rs 9,918 crore for the first nine months as against Rs 7,758 crore during the same period last year, reflecting a 28% growth. Mr Mahesh said this was well over the industry average growth of 11% for private life insurance players.
ICICI Pru Life officials said there had been a slowdown in business from the NRI segment, adding that the encouraging aspect was that renewal premium showed a strong growth of 75%, touching Rs 5,427 crore in the first 9 months.
